The good ones learn from their mistakes

Written by Shane Clemons on .

It's time that I fully address my feelings on Justin Blackmon's recent DUI arrest. First and foremost I want to say that my opinion is just that, an opinion, and taking it for anything more than that is doing yourself a disservice as well as myself. Seriously, take it as one person's view and nothing more.

DUIs are no small matter, and the fact that this isn't Blackmon's first run-in involving alcohol and vehicles is somewhat disturbing. This isn't the type of minor crime that we all shake our heads and move on with our days. No, DUIs are very serious, and too often we hear about the consequences of those types of choices on the morning news. Almost without a doubt, someone reading this has had his or her life altered by a DUI.

All that being said, I'm encouraged by Blackmon's response as well as the Jaguars' response. He's not hiding under a rock and hoping this thing blows over. He knows what he did is wrong, and I'm hopeful that he realizes such actions can't be allowed to take place. This is a young man with a bright future in the NFL. It would be a shame to see him throw all his talent away on something so stupid. I have no problem with alcohol. I have a problem with some of the decisions people make when they're not sober. Let's hope Blackmon makes better decisions next time. Actions speak louder than words. The ball's in Justin Blackmon's court now.

Fred Taylor To Enter The 'Pride Of The Jaguars'

Written by Mike Tiscione on .

00 Fred Taylor

On Thursday morning, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that Fred Taylor would be inducted into the 'Pride of the Jaguars' at Everbank Field this season, when the Jaguars host the Cincinnati Bengals in their week-four matchup, on September 30th. With this honor, Taylor will join former Jaguars Pro Bowl left tackle Tony Boselli, as well as Wayne and Delores Weaver, who were inducted when the Jaguars hosted the Indianapolis Colts in the final game of the 2011 season.

AFC South team games

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Bingo_CardThe AFC South is an enigma. I know what everyone expects, and I know what the hopes and dreams of each team are, but I can't help but shake the feeling that the division isn't what it seems. With that, I bring you the games that best represent each team in the AFC South. It only seems logical, since this is a Jaguars blog, to start with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville Jaguars - Bingo

If you'd like to know what it's like to be GM Gene Smith and head coach Mike Mularkey, head over to www.partybingo.com and play a game or two. The Jaguars feel as if they're finally back to equal footing with the other teams in the division and the league as a whole. The problem is, they're constantly looking for luck in picking wide receivers. It's been an incredibly long time since the Jaguars had one wideout worth anything on the field. GM Gene is hoping he's finally found the elusive answers.

2012 Jaguars Schedule - Pros and Cons

Written by Mike Tiscione on .

We’re at that point of the offseason where there isn’t anything too exciting happening. The draft has passed, training camp doesn’t begin for another several weeks, and actual football is still over three months away. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still things to discuss and analyze in terms of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Following a 5-11 campaign in 2011 that was full of complete chaos, the Jaguars and their fans not only saw long time head coach Jack Del Rio fired late in the season, but an ownership change occurred as well, when Illinois businessman Shahid Khan purchased the team from Wayne Weaver. Despite all of the drama in Jacksonville as of late, can the Jaguars rebound in 2012?

Jaguars' worst case scenario in 2012

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Mike_Mularkey_Jaguars

Yesterday, I said that the Jaguars could have a very, very good year. I went out on a limb, saying they could wind up as good as 13-3, which is likely good enough for the top seed in the AFC, and at the very lest the second seed.

Now it's time to look at the bleak side of this equation. We really don't know what to expect from the Jaguars in 2012. All indications from John Oehser and anyone that's been around Gabbert this offseason have been positive, but that doesn't mean it'll translate on the field. The Jaguars have a difficult schedule to look forward to, and they have to score points to win games, regardless of how strong their defense turns out to be.

Jaguars' best case scenario in 2012

There's been a handful of the always fun "best and worst case scenarios" floating around the NFL in recent weeks. I thought I'd take a stab at giving my opinion of the Jaguars best and worst case scenarios. I'm breaking this into two posts just because there's the potential for me getting long-winded in explaining myself, and I don't particularly like dropping 1,000+ words on my readers in one post.

In the middle of April, Colts blogger and AFC South Lead Blogger Nate Dunlevy posted the Jaguars' best and worst case scenarios, putting their top achievable mark at just 8-8 and their bottom mark at 3-13. He was also kind enough to project the Jaguars' final record in 2012, putting it at just 6-10.

Paul Kuharsky took a stab at these scenarios for the Jaguars as well, putting their dream scenario at 10-6 and making the playoffs while having their nightmare scenario playing out with just a 4-12 record.

With apologies to Dunlevy and Kuharsky, the Jaguars' best case scenario is much better than 8-8 or even 10-6.

Blaine Gabbert vs. Chad Henne... Go!

I know it's been awhile since I've pumped something out here at The Jaggernaut. What can I say? I've been staying very busy (especially at This Given Sunday).

Anyway, I just ran across this disturbing tweet from Chris Wesseling (RTed by Tania Ganguli), and I thought you'd folks may want to analyze it.

Update 5:56 PM: This from Pete Prisco
