Terrelle Pryor and the CBA

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Terrelle_Pryor

Today, we're knocking out two topics with one article. Maybe that's because there's not a whole lot to talk about, and maybe that's because the topics aren't directly related to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Either way, this is the type of article extended work stoppages tend to lead to, so; we'll make the best of it, and hope for a new CBA in the near future.

First let's tackle the Terrelle Pryor topic. His agent has said that he's worth a first round pick (a bid in this case), but I don't think any analyst that has any level of credibility truly believes this. Sure, Pryor has some potential to be a great player in the league, but he'll need more than a ringing endorsement from Jon Gruden, a quarterback guru that never had anything more in that department than Rich Gannon.

More on Jack Del Rio's Job Status for 2012

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Jack_Del_Rio

Yesterday, Alfie Crow at Big Cat Country floated the idea that Jack Del Rio, barring a disastrous 2011 campaign, could likely be back in 2012. Crow argued that Del Rio may benefit from playing a rookie quarterback at some point in 2011 and be the benefactor of a "free pass" for playing Gabbert. I like Del Rio as a coach, but there won't be anything resembling a free pass this year.

Del Rio's Job... Safe?

Written by Shane Clemons on .

I thought this was an odd article concerning Jack Del Rio's status as the Jaguars' head coach in 2012, but the poll results are even more surprising.

"I've explained before that Del Rio could easily get a "free pass" from playing Blaine Gabbert for part of the season in 2011, but wanting to sit him for the entire 2011 season would seem like Del Rio already knows he'll be back in 2012. Earlier in the year Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver made the comment that if the Jaguars weren't in the playoffs in 2011 there would be coach changes, but that was after he was peppered with questions from reporters after a press conference in which he announced Del Rio would be back for 2011. A few months later, Weaver backed off those comments stating he'd simply like to be "competing for the playoffs"."

Austen Lane on the WNBA and Mohawks

Written by Shane Clemons on .

This latest blog post by Austen Lane is priceless. Seriously, it's a must read.

"Larry Hart Mo-Hawk Watch 2011: I spoke with Larry today at a training session and asked him if he was going to keep it… WARNING!! PUT THE WIFE AND KIDS TO BED: His response and I quote, “I am going to keep it for the season.” This decision will of course lead to the fact that people will think he is part of some kind of Rookie hazing when he indeed “wants his hair that style.” Needless to say this concludes the Mo-Hawk Watch. It’s a sad day for Jag fans everywhere, and even a sadder day for SWAG in general.  So in a last ditch effort, like an intervention for a Heroine addict, I’m asking the help of the Blog Nation. Please vote in this poll and show your support. Maybe if we get enough people to vote Larry will change his mind, so vote YES or NO for the Mohawk…"

2011 Potential Free Agent Signees - Michael Huff, S

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Yesterday, we highlighted Eric Weddle as a potential signee for the Jaguars once free agency opens up. Now, we're going to take a look at FS, Michael Huff from Oakland. I pointed out that Eric Weddle was a very durable guy, but Huff actually wins the "durability battle." Huff has played in every game since coming into the league in the 2006 season.

Position: FS

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 205 lbs.

2011 Potential Free Agent Signees - Eric Weddle, S

Written by Shane Clemons on .

At this point in the off-season, we all know that Eric Weddle will be one of the hottest free agent names in this year's crop, and he also plays at a position of great need for the Jaguars. A couple things should immediately jump out when you look at Weddle. First off, he's durable. He's has played in all but 4 games of his 4 year NFL career. It doesn't take a math genius to realize that he misses about one game per year.

Position: FS

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 200 lbs.

Poll: Should the Jaguars attempt to sign Eric Weddle in free agency?
