Jones-Drew Will be Ready for 2011

Written by Shane Clemons on .

More on Jones-Drew's injury.

"Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is keenly aware of speculation and doubt about how his surgically repaired knee will function during the 2011 season, whenever it begins.

That's part of what's driving him this summer — he doesn't want any questions to linger in his coaches' minds about his health.

"I can still carry the load regardless of what surgery I had or whatnot," Jones-Drew said. "They're going to be kind of anxious to throw Rashad [Jennings] in, and they're already kind of scared of my knee. ... I want to be able to be out the gates playing because it's a production-based business. They're already skeptical maybe it's his knee, maybe we're working him too hard, we should give him a break.""

More on Jim Trotter's Prediction

Written by Shane Clemons on .

In case you missed it, Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter made a rather bold prediction this week. He said to look for a new CBA in the middle of next week. Whoa now guys. I know what you're thinking. Did I misinterpret what he really said? Is he crazy? Is he right? What if he is right? Before we dive into all of that, let's get the context right. Trotter was elaborating on the idea that the lockout being ruled "legal" (actually the ruling just said that the court couldn't end the lockout) gave leverage to the owners. Here's exactly what he said:

"Anyone who believes the 8th circuit ruling is a leverage shift for the owners isn't following closely. Consider court said rookies an free agents can't be locked out. If Judge Nelson grants an injunction that forces teams to do business with all 800+, then what? And does anyone believe that judge nelson would NOT rule in favor of the rookies and free agents? Having said all of that, look for a CBA agreement by the middle of next week, with league business to resume a week or so after that. I know you all will hold me to that timeline but remember, there is a difference b/n "informed opinion" and "fact". Mine: informed opinion."

Saturday Thought Drop: Gotta Stay Out of Jail

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Jail

Friday came and went, and no Friday Thought Drop was posted. Shame on me. It's been a somewhat busy week, and that's made it fly by. There are a couple bigger developments to hit on today. Those include Hines Ward, stadium safety, and the CBA… of course. Let's jump right in.

First we'll touch on the tragedy of a baseball fan falling out of the stands this week, and later dying due to the injuries he sustained. It's one of those freak things that should never happen. Hopefully stadiums reconsider the height of their railings, and this never happens again.

Starters in Undrafted Free Agency?

Written by Matthew Mochal on .

The Jaguars have a chance this offseason to do something very special.  Building off of a strong draft, in which we secure our Franchise Quarterback, a starting, mauling Guard, a special and rare talent at Free Safety, and next, hard hitting Corner, the Jaguars are in a position where they can go for a more need  based approach in the Undrafted Free Agency Period.  Here, I will break down, my top-5 targets the Jaguars should look to bring in to instantly challenge for a starting role on the team.

Android App Released

Written by Shane Clemons on .

I'm very excited to announce that The Jaggernaut now has its own mobile app. The current release can be found here. It is made for Android powered phones. The iPhone build has been submitted, but it takes considerably longer to process, hopefully that'll be released soon. It's one more way to follow the site on the go, and  as always, we're trying to make the site as accessible as possible. As an aside, I don't personally have an Android phone, so; if you have any problems with it, let me know, and I'll try to get it sorted out.

8th Circuit: Lockout Cannot be Lifted by Courts

Written by Shane Clemons on .

It's a semi-big piece of news, but it shouldn't affect an impending CBA. Regardless, Daniel Kaplan broke the news of the 8th Circuit Court's ruling via Twitter.

Friday Night (Hi)Lights

Written by Matthew Mochal on .

Hello folks,

Today is the first of many installments of Friday Night (Hi)Lights, a work in progress I will be updating every week.  This is where I will spotlight anywhere from One to Three college prospects I feel will make great Jaguars.  If there is enough interest from you, the reader, I can do this more often than once a week, so please, send in your feedback.

Thanks for reading,

Matt

First off is a player who rarely needs an introduction, as he makes his presence known for all opposing offensive players.  Looking over our current roster, I feel as though this linebacking position can and will be addressed in both Free Agency, whether that be Undrafted or Pro, we must address our lack of quality starters as well as solid depth/role players.  Our philosophy is to build through the draft, so even with a signing in free agency there is no need for this man to not have his name called for the Jaguars.  Here he is, Travis Lewis, OLB Oklahoma.
