Let the Safety Debate Begin

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Dawan Landry's signing has been, probably, the biggest event for the Jaguars since Blaine Gabbert was drafted back in April. There's a debate that's beginning to take shape, however. Dawan Landry played strong safety while he was with the Ravens, but it's possible that he could be asked to play free safety this season.

It's been well documented that the Jaguars' safety situation last season, for lack of a better term, sucked. Landry will step in and start from day one. Courtney Greene, who I thought really started to come around late in the season, will have to fight for a starting spot, especially if Landry plays the position he's used to at SS.

The Jaggernaut Fantasy Football League

Written by Shane Clemons on .

In an effort to build a community feeling here at The Jaggernaut, we're going to try to put together a fantasy football league using Yahoo. If you are interested, fill out the form below, and make sure you're registered with yahoo. It'll be a first come first serve basis, depending on the response. Also, it will be an online draft which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 6 at 5 PM Eastern Time, although I believe it's possible to set your draft board before the draft. Have some fun, get to know some fellow readers and writers, and join us for some fantasy football in August!

*Please fill the email field with the yahoo account address you'll be using for the league.

Some extreme foresight would have been required for me to have realized that taking a vacation for the past 8 days was a bad idea, but it happened, and now I'm back. Colt Killers

Every year it seems that the Jacksonville Jaguars run into the same problem, how to sweep the Colts and claim the AFC South title.  In recent years the Jaguars have been able to split the series with their divisional foes, but what do they need to do in order to not only defeat Indy, but to become dominate over them year in & year out.  “Wait until Peyton Manning retires” is the usual response. However, I like many fans, find it tough to be patient.  I want the Jaguars to rip that title from the cold, defeated hands of the Indianapolis Colts and then stomp a mud hole in their chests and walk in dry and I want them to do it now.  I know this may not happen, but what if the Jags could get certain players in free agency that always seem to be able to get into Manning’s head?  Players that frustrate him and cause turnovers at critical times during big games. Players that have the Colts Number.  Maybe, just maybe the Jaguars could turn the tide and become the thorn in Indy’s side.  Enter the Colt Killers.

Free Agency: A New Game

Written by Marcus Pearson on .

As we all probably know by now, the Jaguars signed their first free agent yesterday. Paul Posluszny, linebacker, from the Buffalo Bills. I personally view him as a good/great linebacker who has not necessarily hit his ceiling yet. I believe he will become a pro bowl player here in Jacksonville (as long as he receives proper recognition). However, many have speculated we overpaid dearly for him. Did we really though?

Divisional Almanac: AFC South

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Maurice_Jones-Drew_2

Today is the day that I come out with my divisional almanac for the Jaguars' division. I'm trying to write an unbiased analysis of the division, and I think I did a pretty good job. This wraps up this series. I hoped you enjoyed the almanac, and hopefully it gave you some things to consider. Let's get to it.

Indianapolis Colts - (12-4)

I know this isn't a popular pick around here, but it's hard to say that the Jaguars will be able to de-throne the leagues most winningest team over the past decade. Peyton Manning may be the best to ever play as a quarterback in the NFL, and they won the division in 2010, despite tons of injuries.
