Dear Jacksonville Jaguars, I want Black Back

It's Sunday, and that means I get to write about whatever I want, regardless of how little it actually affects the Jaguars. Today, I want to submit my plea to the team to bring the greatest jerseys in football back. I'm talking about those awesome black jerseys. Please, Mr. Weaver, I'm begging you.

The Jaguars are no doubt on the rise, and I understand the whole "we want our identity to be teal" thing, but the black uniforms are a great part of the old Jaguars culture. Yes, I just divided the Jaguars into "new" and "old," but I think it's time.

2011 Pre-Season Power Rankings

Part of the joy of the NFL season is reveling in the unimportant, frivolous task of prediction. While power rankings don't exactly fall under the category of prediction, they are both meaningless and often controversial. I participate in ranking teams for the same reason that I participate in creating mock drafts.

They're too damn fun. Let's go.

2012 Draft Plan

Written by Matthew Mochal on .

This offseason has had major implications in what we could be doing in next years National Football League Draft.  If we were talking two weeks ago, the clear cut need would have been any one of the three linebacking positions and at a close second would have been the safety position.  Thanks to some wheeling and dealing of both Gene and Wayne in the Free Agent Market, we no longer have a need in any of those seven areas.  Dwan Landry, has locked down the Strong Safety position, while Chris Prosiniski has stolen the Free Safety position already in Training Camp.

This will be a two-parter. I will begin with the offense today and will likely discuss the defense very soon.

Friday Thought Drop: Jaguars Emerging as Divisional Challenger

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Garrard_Colts

It's been too long since I last dropped my thoughts on top of your Friday afternoon, but I'm back to it, and the timing couldn't be better. Also note, I extended that last sentence with two conjunctions (, but; , and). That's completely irrelevant, but there's been a lot to cover, so; let's dive right in.

The Jaguars' biggest splash was made with the signing of Dawan Landry. Originally I thought they'd leave him at SS and force Courtney Greene to adapt at FS or find another option there, but I now think that Landry may actually play FS. That would let Greene continue at SS, and I think the Jaguars would be better able to field a complete defensive unit this season than if Landry continued at FS. Consider me converted.

Making The Cut

Written by John McGrath on .

Now that the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed all their draft picks and free agents, I'd like to talk about which players should make the cut.  More to the point, which players will make the final roster.  The Jaguars have already cut some veterans, letting them sign on with other teams if they can.  They have released long-time offensive guard Vince Manuwai due to injury and weight issues.  Also cut were veterans like Kirk Morrison, Justin Durant, Justin Smiley, Sean Considine, Derrick Harvey, Mike Sims-Walker, Josh Scobee & Tyron Brackenridge. A few of which have already found new homes.  Durant will now be taking up space on Detroit's weekly injury reports.  Sims-Walker will be dropping passes for the Rams.  Harvey will be riding the Broncos bench and Scobee will be sailing footballs thru the uprights in Chicago.  There is a slim chance that the Jaguars bring Morrison back as depth at linebacker & if Manuwai gets healthy he could be brought back for less money.  But those chances, unlike Knighton's waistline, keep getting slimmer.
