McCown should start

That's it, I've seen enough.  Garrard sucks.  Gabbert is getting better, but clearly isn't there yet.  Time for Luke McCown to get the start.  Luke has shown he can get it done.  I say he should be the starting QB & Gabbert should be the back-up. They should trade Garrard before stinks it up so bad that he has no trade value left.  McCown was very good last year before getting injured so why not give him a chance to start?  What have they got to lose at this point?  There's just 1 more preseason game left & I see no reason that Luke shouldn't be giving his chance too.  He looked good against the Falcons didn't he?  Del Rio needs to get his head out of his backside & let Luke start the next game.  What if he does great?  Maybe Jack knows that will happen & doesn't want to deal with having to admit that "Fedora Dave" isn't the answer.

The Jaguars Didn't Play Well, But Don't Hit the Panic Button Yet

If you watched the Jaguars 32-35 overtime, pre-season defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills last night, you're probably as disappointed as I am at a few things that happened in the game. I know the knee-jerk reaction is to panic, but that's not necessary. Let's take a step back, and look at exactly what went wrong on Saturday night.

The broadcasting crew, at least where I was watching it, was a Bills crew, and they were some of the worst broadcasters I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. I just want to point out that the pass interference that set up a Jaguars' touchdown was PI because the defender stuck his arm at as an arm-bar, blocking the receiver from making a play on the ball. It was the right call, but the commentators never picked up on that. Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the Jaguars.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Buffalo Bills Live, In Game Blog

This was kind of a last minute thing that I threw together. I'll be here blogging through at least the first half of the game. Enjoy.

Things to Watch In the Jaguars, Bills Game

Pass Rush
Jeremy Mincey will be out with a concussion, and he was great against the Atlanta Falcons. It'll be interesting to see if the Jaguars can back up a great performance against the Falcons with another one against the Bills. Alualu was another big-time player against the Falcons. He was constantly collapsing the pocket. Another strong performance up front would certainly build confidence among the team and it's fans.

Paul Posluszny
Really, I'll be keeping an eye on all of the linebackers, but more specifically, I'll be keeping tabs of how Posluszny plays. I realize that it's often over-hyped, and really doesn't mean that much when a player plays his former team, but it's still fun to watch. Mostly, I'll just be watching for a big hit or two from Posluszny.

Buccaneers, Not Jaguars, Should Move From Florida to L.A.

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Hat tip to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN for pointing us to this one:

"The Tampa-St. Petersburg megalopolis is the 14th-biggest market in the country, but does not support two of the most solid franchises in professional sports. TheTampa Bay Rays have proven over the last few years that they are one of the most well-run franchises in Major League Baseball yet the fan base continues to be among the sport's worst.

The fan apathy toward the Bucs is even more baffling because Tampa has always fancied itself as a football town. But I would argue Jacksonville is much more passionate about its perennially mediocre Jags than the Bucs are about one of the hottest young teams in the NFL."

Jaguars Should Be Looking for a Win Against Bills

The Jaguars are a better football team than the Buffalo Bills. I think everyone reading this would agree, and I see no reason why the better team in week 3 of the pre-season wouldn't beat the less talented team. I know that this year may be a little different as it pertains to starters playing, and I know that some of the Jaguars' key players will be missing from the game, but that's no excuse for losing this game. I'm not going to put much stock in this game, but a loss shouldn't happen.

The Jaguars made Matt Ryan look uncomfortable the entire time he was playing in their pre-season match-up against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have what I would consider a very sturdy offensive line, which is why I was so surprised to see Alualu and Mincey in the backfield the whole first half. Mincey, of course, will miss the Buffalo game with a concussion, but Alualu will be there, and he should be able to trouble the Bills' line.

Alcohol Be Gone?

Written by Shane Clemons on .

I'm not sure of my stance on the issue, but it's a good piece nonetheless:

"What I don't hear is anyone -- not a team, not the league -- announcing that alcohol will no longer be sold in the stadium or tolerated in the parking lot.

Yeah, I know. I just lost you there. Listen, I understand. I do. You're not the problem. You weren't holding a pistol in the parking lot, and you weren't kicking a guy in the men's room. You weren't one of the monsters who pounded Giants baseball fan Bryan Stow into a coma on Opening Day at Dodger Stadium. When fans brawled at Yankee Stadium during Game 5 of the 2010 American League Championship Series, you weren't throwing haymakers."
