I'd like to talk about a subject that will bring a smile to the face of any teal-blooded, tried & true male Jaguars fan.  Of course, I'm talking about the Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleaders.  The ROAR has been around since 1995 when the team was first awarded to Jacksonville.  Every year new women try out for the ROAR roster & every year they get hotter & hotter.  They travel the world to make appearances every where from local high school to USO functions in support of all our great men & women of the armed forces.  They also have a very highly anticipated annual swimsuit calendar.  Talk about making us roar.  Every male Jags fan probally has a favorite ROAR girl......I know I do.

As most of you already know, the Jaguars square off against the Atlanta Falcons in their second pre-season game tomorrow night at Everbank Field. The Jaguars were trounced by the Patriots in their first pre-season game, but keen observers agree that the Jaguars' coaches still got a lot of valuable information out of that game.

The Jaguars still have a lot of questions on both sides of the ball, and this game will go a long ways towards determining starters, backups, and which guys won't make the final roster. As with all pre-season games, there are a lot of story lines heading into the game. You just have to know where to look.

Will Jack Del Rio be back as head coach of the Jaguars next season?

Who will be the starter of the Jaguars week 1 of the regular season?

Who will be the Jaguars starter for week 17 of the regular season?

What will be the result of the Jaguars' season?

It's still too early to tell who the Jaguars will be starting week 1 of the regular season, but all indications are that Blaine Gabbert may be in a real battle for the position with David Garrard. This report is very praising of Blaine Gabbert, and if it is indeed an accurate depiction of what's happening, David Garrard may be in trouble as the starting quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars:

"I had a chance to go to training camp this morning and boy, did Blaine Gabbert look good.  His passes were accurate, well-timed, and had power behind them.  He did a nice job of anticipating his receivers and completed passes to several of them including Mike Thomas and rookie Cecil Shorts.  Gabbert has been splitting first team reps with veteran David Garrard, who (in my opinion) has been a little shaky the couple of times Ive watched him this week.  But Gabbert has looked poised, confident, and most of all, consistent. I know it’s training camp.  I know it’s not a game situation with blitzes and pressure and defenders in your face.  I get that–but still, you’ve got to be good in practice if you want to be good on the field."

The Jacksonville Jaguars actually have 4 prime-time games in 2011. The first of those is the meaningless pre-season match-up with the Atlanta Falcons at Everbank Field this Friday. Let's take a quick look at these prime-time events and what we have to look forward to.

The Jaguars play their second exhibition game against the Falcons. The biggest story line going into the game should be Blaine Gabbert vs. David Garrard, once again. We shouldn't overlook other key positions. Austen Lane is looking for a rebound from a very, very quiet night against New England. The defense is looking for redemption after being torched all night against the Patriots' backup quarterbacks. Scotty McGee needs to shine for the Jaguars to hope for a roster spot, and the Jaguars receivers need to pull the H out of their A. There's all that to look for and a lot more. Should be a bonanza for any analytical Jaguars fan.

Jones-Drew on his fantasy value:

"“Pretty much every reporter, ‘Will he be back, is it possible to come back and do what he’s done?’” Jones-Drew told reporters Monday. “A lot of fantasy football gurus who have never stepped on the field before or ever been in the locker room, they know the best about football.”"

More on MJD's knee:

"“I love it,” MJD told Jaguars.com on Sunday. “I kind of got that feel back getting hit. Today was no soreness, no setbacks. No nothing.”

Jones-Drew missed two games last season and scored nine fewer touchdowns than he did in 2009, but the five-year veteran still racked up 1,641 total yards and earned his second-consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl."

Terrance Knighton is back in practice:

"Knighton, who arrived at training camp more than 20 pounds overweight, was cleared to practice Saturday and could play in the team's second preseason game next week. He said he's "somewhere in the 340s," still leaving him some weight to lose before getting to the 335 pounds the team feels will get him in "fighting shape."

"I'm just happy to be back with the team," Knighton said. "Had to shed a few to get back out on the field. I did that. Now I'm just ready to get some football stuff done.""
