Wife to Jaguars' Blackmon: ‘You don’t quit on a play’

Written by Michael Clinton on .

We all know that the Jacksonville Jaguars have had a less than stellar season – heck even a less than bad season.

But after many games of me coming home from spending multiple hours on the sidelines taking photos and not having anything positive to say to my wife, I chose not to tell her how bad the team looked Sunday against the New York Jets.

But when my wife leaned over the counter as she cooked up dinner, she asked me “How bad did they lose?”

Her response to my explanation that receiver Justin Blacmon quit on a play is one for the books.

Tim Tebow not an issue for the Jaguars

Written by Shane Clemons on .

The Jets are still in the process of coming to terms with what their season has become. For those of you that have avoided Jets football most of the year, it's a joke.

The trade that moved Tim Tebow from Denver to New York was one of the few bright spots for the Jaguars in 2012. It kept Tebow away from Jacksonville, and it now appears that Greg McElroy, not Tebow, could get the opportunity to start over Mark Sanchez.

Through all of Monday's talk of Tebow starting on Sunday, no one seemed to mention that the Jaguars have absolutely nothing to worry about if Tebow did in fact start, but as it turns out, it appears as if he won't be starting.

The Tim Tebow story line has been over played, and I'm hoping this little bit ranting puts it to bed, at least on this site. Even if Tebow makes it onto the field on Sunday, who cares? Tebow isn't a great quarterback, and he's probably not going to kill you with his arm. In short, Tebow is irrelevant this weekend. It's all about Chad Henne, the Jaguars' receivers and Mark Sanchez or Greg McElroy.

Q&A with Bloguin Bills blogger Joe

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Ignoring the alliteration of the title of this article, we were approached this week, as sometimes happens, by Bloguin's own Bills blogger, "Joe," for a Q&A. So, we exchanged some questions, and the following is his answers. You can find my answers to his thought provoking questions here. Enjoy.

TJ: Chan Gailey seems to be on the hot seat. Do you see him returning next season?

Joe: It is really up in the air at this point. The Bills have never been an organization to have a short leash on coaches when they fail..constantly. Dick Jauron was the last coach and he survived three straight years of 7-9 seasons to go along with a fan base that wanted his head on a platter. If the Bills lose out, I can't see how they'd let him come back. To this point, he's 14-29 as as a head coach. However, if they finish 7-9 or 8-8 -which is very possible because they have an easy schedule- I think he comes back. Should he come back? No. He is too arrogant as a coach and believes in passing to much when he doesn't have a QB for it. Hardheaded. As for Gailey's shortcomings: He loves to pass too much. He has a running back that is averaging 6.5 yac but only 11 carries per game. He doesn't know when to be aggressive or passive. He just isn't a good game day coach.

Updated: Josh Scobee is stealing Blaine Gabbert's jersey number, apparently

Written by Shane Clemons on .

The Jacksonville Jaguars have likely moved on from the Blaine Gabbert era, but now a Freudian slip seems to be rubbing salt in the wound.

I found the above picture on the Jaguars' official Facebook page. Take a look at the bottom, right corner of the image. Apparently, Josh Scobee has abruptly abandoned his #10 jersey in favor of Blaine Gabbert's #11 jersey. Ouch. Just ouch.

Update, 3:37 PM: Whew crisis averted.

Henne impresses in first Jaguars start

Written by Shane Clemons on .

No one wants to admit when he's wrong, but that's something many Jaguars fans are coping with following Jacksonville's home victory over the Tennessee Titans.

The Jaguars looked solid on offense. Even though they only mounted four scoring drives, three of those drives resulted in touchdowns, not field goals, and the Jaguars offense continued to show the quick-strike capability that was on display just a week ago.

And that's the problem.
