In Optimum Scouting's most recent mock draft, Eric Galko has the Jacksonville Jaguars drafting Courtney Upshaw, an OLB from Alabama. Here's the rationale.
"7 . Jacksonville Jaguars - Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
-The Jaguars need some pass rush help along with targets for Blaine Gabbert. They should have the option of Upshaw/Melvin Ingram or Blackmon/Michael Floyd at this point. Upshaw ready, powerful, and can make an immediate impact, with receiver help coming in 2nd-3rd round."
The first six picks in this mock were, in order, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Matt Kalil, Morris Claiborne, Trent Richardson, and Dontari Poe.
You may have noticed something. Justin Blackmon is still on the board at #7 in this mock draft. If this is the case, and the Jaguars do pass on Justin Blackmon, I'll be in the market for a new TV, because my foot will have gone through my current television set.
I'd like to think that the Jaguars would spend a high draft pick on a potentially elite receiver instead of spending it on an already stellar defensive unit.
To be sure, this mock draft is somewhat unique. For example, this mock draft has Blackmon falling to the Cardinals at 13th overall, Quinton Coples going 27th overall to the Patriots, and Riley Reiff falling to the Bills at 10th overall. To say the least, I don't put much stock in mock drafts.
