Jaguars franchise Scobee, long-term deal still in the works
According to Tania Ganguli, the Jacksonville Jaguars have used their franchise tag on kicker Josh Scobee.
Scobee did not want to be franchised, he's made that clear on the Twitter. I'm told he has no plans to sign the tender. #Jaguars

The move isn't surprising, and it hands Scobee approximately $2.9 million for his services in 2012. Still Ganguli has been told that Scobee does not intend to sign his franchise tender. If nothing else, the tag ensures that Scobee and the Jaguars can continue to negotiate in an effort to agree on a long-term deal.
The other side of the coin is that the Jaguars can no longer use the franchise tag on defensive end Jeremy Mincey, indicating the Jaguars may let him test the free agency market. Frankly, it's likely that Mincey is asking more than his fair market value, and I'd be shocked if he gets what he wants in free agency. I still believe he'll be with Jacksonville in 2012, but only time will tell.
