Jaguars move up to draft Justin Blackmon at 5th overall

Written by Shane Clemons on .

The big story of draft day for the Jaguars is yet another Gene Smith era trade up. This time, the Jaguars traded away the 7th pick and the 101st pick (4th rounder) to move up to the 5th overall pick. With that selection, the Jaguars made yet another step towards fixing their wide receiving corps in selecting Justin Blackmon.

Blackmon will add a great #1 option for Blaine Gabbert to throw to. On top of the Jaguars' other offseason acquisitions of Laurent Robinson and Lee Evans, the Jaguars will actually have a decent group of receivers in 2012. Now, Blaine Gabbert will have no excuses left in 2012, but that's a discussion for another day. For now, let this video appease you.
