My Public Apology To Blaine Gabbert

Blaine Gabbert, shown above, effectively shut me up Sunday with a great performance in Jacksonville against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It figures that Blaine Gabbert would put this blogger in his place less than a week after I floated the question of whether the Jaguars should draft a QB again with their 1st round pick in 2012. I'll admit when I jumped the gun on something, and it appears that Blaine Gabbert is indeed showing the progression that I said was lacking.

Here's what I saw on Sunday. I saw a young quarterback make a few bad decisions. That's not in question, but I saw a lot more positives. I saw Blaine Gabbert stepping up in the pocket, despite pressure in his area. I saw a guy moving from read to read. I saw a guy check the ball down as a second, third, or fourth option, not his primary read.

So, this is me saying to all of my readers, and on the off chance that Blaine Gabbert actually reads this, I was wrong. We need to show far more patience than I have shown recently. Blaine Gabbert is indeed growing, and I was wrong to suggest otherwise.
